About pelvic floor symptoms
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that supports the bladder, bowel and, in women, the uterus. Pregnancy, childbirth, menopause, chronic coughing, constipation and heavy lifting can all strain it. Men get pelvic floor problems too, especially after prostate surgery.
For stress urinary incontinence in women, NICE recommends at least three months of supervised pelvic floor muscle training as the first treatment. Supervision matters, because many people contract the wrong muscles when they try it from a leaflet.
Pro Physio's pelvic health team works at the Malleshwaram clinic and on home visits. See women's health physiotherapy.
